The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to review the recently released 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
This decision follows a significant wave of unusual complaints from candidates, particularly from select states, prompting the Board to take proactive measures to ensure the integrity and credibility of the examination process.
JAMB Annual System Review
In light of the concerns raised, JAMB is accelerating its annual post-examination review, which takes place months after the UTME.
This review is a thorough evaluation of three core stages of the process: registration, examination conduct, and result release.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to fairness, emphasizing that every candidate must have a fair opportunity to take the exam.
Suppose any technical hitches are discovered during the review, especially those that may have affected the results. In that case, the Board is prepared to implement prompt corrective actions, just as when rescheduling exams due to technical disruptions.
To ensure a robust and transparent process, JAMB has engaged a range of independent experts to assist in the investigation. These include:
1. Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria (CPN)
2. Chief External Examiners from various tertiary institutions
3. The Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa
4. Measurement and evaluation specialists
5. Vice Chancellors and other academic leaders
Review Panel Meeting Schedule
To further strengthen public confidence, JAMB has constituted a Review Panel to assess the conduct of the 2025 UTME and identify any challenges.
This panel has been tasked with offering practical recommendations to prevent future issues and improve the examination system.
The review meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 15th May 2025.
Membership on the panel comes at no financial cost to the Board and includes key stakeholders in the education sector, such as:
1. All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS)
2. National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools
3. Chief External Examiners (CEEs)
4. Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria (CPN)
5. Educational Assessment & Research Network
