The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a delay in the commencement of registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Initially set to begin on Friday, January 31st, 2025 the process has now been rescheduled.
2025 JAMB New Registration Date
According to Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the registration will now commence on Monday, February 3rd 2025. This postponement became necessary as the board implemented important adjustments to its registration process.
One of the primary reasons for the delay is the need for additional scrutiny of certain Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers. JAMB discovered that some centers had employed deceptive facilities to secure accreditation, prompting a reassessment of their eligibility.
Moreover, the board is making these changes following the recent suspension of law programmes at selected universities, as recommended by the Council for Legal Education. Recognizing the potential inconvenience this delay may cause, JAMB has apologized to candidates and other stakeholders for the disruption.
JAMB Suspends Law Courses in Selected Universities
In a related development, JAMB has confirmed that it will not be processing admissions for Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programmes in eight universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. This decision follows the Council for Legal Education’s suspension of law programmes in these institutions due to regulatory concerns.
The affected universities include:
1. Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
2. Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
3. Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State
4. Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
5. Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
6. Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
7. Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
8. Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
This move underscores JAMB’s commitment to upholding educational standards in Nigeria. Candidates intending to study law are advised to seek alternative accredited institutions to avoid complications during the admission process.
