JAMB Age Limit Requirements
To be eligible to sit for the UTME and gain admission into universities, polytechnics, or colleges of education, candidates must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2025.
The board will strictly enforce the 16-year age requirement for the 2025 UTME registration. However, exceptionally gifted candidates under the age of 16 may be granted an exception. To qualify for admission, gifted candidates must achieve a minimum UTME score of 280 and demonstrate outstanding academic performance in both their senior secondary certificate examinations and post-UTME assessments.
New Feature for 2025 JAMB Registration
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced an innovative feature for the 2025 UTME registration process: the “Trial-Testing Mock Examination” designed specifically for underage candidates.
This initiative targets candidates who will not yet be 16 years old by 30th September 2025 and are therefore ineligible to sit for the 2025 UTME. These candidates can now participate in the Mock-UTME as a preparatory, hands-on experience. This opportunity allows them to familiarize themselves with the UTME process, ensuring they are better prepared when eligible to take the examination.
Candidates must select the type of e-PIN they require during the purchase of their UTME application documents. It is essential to make this selection carefully, as no refunds will be issued after purchase.
